Reconstruction with Judith, after 40 years

It happens once in a lifetime, that an artist gets the chance to repeat a photo session. Here I mean, with the same marvelous model with the same poses, but 40 years later. Miracles happen!

It began on the time which I was a student on the Creative Art study in the University of Haifa, Israel. Judith, a study mate of mine had the same vision about art. We both were not very happy with the two photo models, which the university appointed for photography. We decided to try our own way.

I brought a jute roll which I found at my kibbutz to a room which was designated normally for art study. There was only side daylight from a big window and a poor lamp, which can’t be considered to be a studio-lamp. Although the modest circumstances, there was enthusiasm, a wish to create art and lots of energy. Judith had a fantastic figure: narrow wasp-waist, broad hips and small but solid breasts. Beyond all: she had her own great artistic ideas. We met several times and created images, which some of them are still proudly exhibited on my portfolio, even after 40 years:

On a certain moment we have tried to expand the experience with her friend, which was great as well.

Two years afterwards I left Israel to The Netherlands and we lost each other out our sight. Remember, internet was then not yet established. But some years ago we found each other again and decided to reconstruct some poses of 40 years ago. The lighting is different, because I don’t have a daylight in my studio from the left side. With this decision came also reality: though we both changed (who doesn’t?) I suppose that this reunion delivers a very beautiful and unique sight again. See yourself to be convinced.
