Liberation: Woman, Life, Freedom

In my former blog I explained why I don’t mix political discussions in my artistic work. I wrote:
“My method is focuses on the opposite: making beautiful things, not ugly or horrifying. People need it for keeping up their spiritual welfare, just as I need it. Live and let live in peace, happiness and harmony.”
Different is the social situation of people. Recently I have been confronted with the terrible news from Iran. In Teheran is a poor girl, named Mahsa Amini, beaten to death “because she didn’t wore her Hijab correctly”.
The repression of women in Iran is not new and exist also elsewhere, like Saudi-Arabia, Afghanistan and even orthodox quarters in Jerusalem. But now the people of Iran didn’t accept it any more, luckily. The demonstrations which began after the death of Amini spread out and I hope, that they will lead to change the evil, fanatic attitude towards women. A terror regime is difficult to change, but there is a place for optimism.
To my part, I decided to make a video which demonstrates the liberation of women from the restrictions forced upon them. Restrictions which men don’t have to follow. I created a video which is dedicated to the memory of Mahsa Amini, Nika Shakarami and all other innocent people who recently have been murdered in Iran. Their slogan “Woman, Life, Freedom” is a protest against the evil idea that women are “belonging” to men and have to obey to the repression of a sick regime.
Of course, the change needs courage. Nobody wants to be shot dead because of a peaceful protest. Perhaps we can learn from the sex strike in ancient Greece, proposed by the play writer Aristophanes in his play “Lysistrata”. If all women refuse to give their favors to husbands who refuse to live in peace, this might help. Women are not owned by men, but have the same rights exactly: not less and not more.
